Beckstoffer Vineyard George III Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Inky in color with a short reddish rim.

Pretty nose of cedar and black fruits, with tobacco and chocolate notes.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cooked plums, cedar, tobacco leaf, light earth, chocolates, spices, peppercorn, coffee, cola and licorice.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.

This 7 year old Napa Cabernet is already drinking beautifully. Smooth and elegant. Spicy and entertaining. Rich, complex and extracted.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Has great potential to become a 96 point wine.

This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is nicely balanced, soft and engaging.

Wine Enthusiasts 94 points.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will also pair nicely with barbecue meats.

Grapes were aged in (85% new) French Oak barrels for 23 months.

14.9% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$225.

Bodegas Muga

Reserva Unfiltered Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2001

On the nose, ripe blueberry, very late season black currant, cocoa, loamy/mineral soil, just a touch of oak and alcohol.
On the palate, no tannins for sure, graceful plum with light acidity and dark chocolate.
Way better than the last bottle, bottle variation working in our favorite tonight perchance?
My guess is this bottle is closer to peak, we have some left and will experiment on a few year delay on the remainders.
