Pour Haus

Stony Hill

Napa Valley Chardonnay 2013

Pop and pour from MAG. A splendid light gold color. On the nose: apple, honeydew melon, banana, crushed stone, floral. Taste: still young at 11 years. Fresh, chalky, with depth and character. Notes of pear, nectarine, lemon & lime, and a white pepper minerally long lean finish. YUM! — 6 days ago

Nahe Spätlese Riesling

Really enjoyed this Riesling! Had the typical petroleum aroma along with floral and citrus notes. Sweet flavors especially a nice grapefruit tone. Short crisp finish. Enjoyed it with shrimp. — 3 months ago

Corison

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

Decant for sediment and pour(decent chunky/fine sediment). A remarkable murky magenta color with bricking. On the nose: beautiful nose of stewed black fruit/currants, floral, herbaceous, burnt embers, spearment. Taste: classic old school Napa, juicy, balanced, savory wine with dark cherry, baking spice, smoke, sweet tobacco and a nice long earthy cocoa finish. YUM! Drinks well at year 20 and glad to have another bottle. — 8 months ago

Chapelle St. Theodoric

La Guigasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache 2015

Pop and pour. Notes from 24 hrs open (in the fridge overnight). While this was compelling yesterday, it is glorious today. On the nose: pure lavender, garrigue, soft cola and a touch of sweet incense, wow. On the palate: very good acidity, fantastic density, sweet blackberry, a touch of ash and heat, cola and a surprisingly dark finish, showing a smoldering warmth and very fine tannin. Seems like at least another 3-5 years before peak if this btl is representative. Absolutely gorgeous. — a month ago

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2016

Pleasant at first pour but underpowered. Needed 45 minutes and decant to start. Improved over time. Darker red than I was expecting. Young wine and quite smooth. Some racy notes at the perimeter but more of an easy drinking succulent Nebbiolo than a brooding one. — 2 months ago

Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2020

Decant and pour. They broke out the Giant glass.....black cherry, leather, tobacco, pepper, dried herbs, cedar, and tannic. Should round out over time. YUM! Super Tuscan tonight to start our Napa weekend...who woulda thunk. — 5 months ago

Haus Klosterberg Mosel Riesling

I brought the spice with this red curry situation so this was just the thing. Refreshing with a hint of tropical fruit and slightly inorganic nose, hint of lees — 9 months ago

Private Reserve Georges de Latour Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1980

Decant for sediment(lots of fine/cloudy sediment) and pour. A majestic tawny dark red color. On the nose: sweet port like with dried plum/cherry, herbaceous, rich soil, mushroom, pepper. Taste: Amazing! juicy, refined, balanced, savory wine with dried cherry, black raspberry, earth, tobacco, mint, and a nice mocha baking spice medium plus finish. YUM! Still delivering at 44 years, and glad to have a few more bottles. — a month ago

Seavey Vineyard

Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon 1999

Decant and pour(lots of sediment). A stunning still dark ruby red with some bricking. On the nose: Compelling perfumed notes of stewed fruit, worn leather, wet earth, eucalyptus, and tobacco. Taste: silky smooth, balanced wine with dried sour cherry, smoke, graphite, and a nice spiced licorice cedar finish. YUM! Still holding its own and glad to have acquired a few more bottles. — 3 months ago

Château Cheval Blanc

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

2011 might be a forgotten vintage but this CB is really memorable. Did a pop and pour and it had great aromatics straight away. Medium to full bodied. Velvety. Layered. Dark berries, herbs, black tea, licorice, bay leaf. First wine on the trip to France. Great start! — 8 months ago
