The fact that Clarksburg Chenin Blanc is now available in a gorgeous millennial chic ombré can (featuring the skyline of sac) brings me great joy. Made by Colleen Sullivan, the young queen of Clarksburg Chenin Blanc. Honeycomb, beeswax, preserved lemon. More expressive after it warms up a bit (vs refrigerator temp). — 4 years ago
Generic Wisconsin American Pilsner; Day 1 Advent calendar from Aldi. Golden grain colored with snowy cap of fluffyness. Clean lemon dough and dinner roll notes, grapefruit zest in minutiae. Acorn meat and day lily with a glass of iced tea and lemon garnish. Desert skyline lacing with mesas, and sparse scrub dotting. Creamy mouthfeel suggests quality Pilsner from a good family. Tasty and consistent throughout, breads with a citrus zip, but very satisfying in all respects. Great style to kick off the holidays.

I believe Ridge is the greatest winery in America. My long-form case is at leduwines.com/blogs/connor/ridge 🇺🇸🍷
Full disclosure: they’re my home team! I’ve been hiking on Monte Bello ridge since I was a child, and took every opportunity I could do drive Skyline Boulevard while living in the Bay. It’s no wonder to me that these vines are so happy.
With the retirement of the great Paul Draper in 2016, three men - Eric Baugher, John Olney, and David Gates - have taken up stewardship of the legendary estate. All three have been with Ridge at least twenty years.
There is no doubt: the principles instilled by David Bennion and perfected by Paul Draper are alive and well. If anything, Ridge is entering yet another golden era, and will continue leading American wine toward its most authentic self.

Happy 4th peeps!
This is a classic proposition for sauv blanc, but in a more restrained style. The nose is reductive; simple, which is counter-balanced by the layered and complex palate. While subtle, it opens up on the mid-palate displaying white peach and nectarines, bolstered by good minerality and delicate sweetness. Bright acidity will let this stand still for a few more years, but I would consume this vintage now. Wifey rating, and I agree.
