Spaghetti

Poggio San Polo

Rubio Toscana Sangiovese Blend 2022

This wine is medium-dark garnet. It has a fresh, ripe nose with a hint of funk present. The palate is full of bright, red fruit. Cherry, currant and raspberry flavors dominate, with a brisk mouthfeel of acidity and tannins. A savory side takes its cues from the earthiness found on the nose. Pair it with spaghetti and meatballs. — a month ago

Piazzano

Chianti Sangiovese 2020

Sweet, light, burst of cherry, with slightly bitter aftertaste. Goes well with classic Italian fare (we paired with spaghetti and Turkey meatballs). — 2 years ago

Roagna

Dolcetto d'Alba 2018

Clear, ruby red in the glass. Clean, little to no va present. Fragrant, with loads of tart red fruits present, lifted by fresh herbs and cut flowers. Fresh and light bodied, the acidity makes this the perfect foil for spaghetti and meatballs. If I had to only drink one Dolcetto, this would be it. — 4 years ago

Ca' del Grifone

From Old Vine Zinfandel Primitivo

This wine is dark ruby in the glass and offers a beautiful nose that is full of dark fruit aromas and a good bit of oak. Tar also appears, adding a very earthy angle to the bouquet. On the palate, big, jammy blackberry, blueberry and cassis flavors are joined together by oak spice and a healthy dose of tannins. Despite the oak mentions, the wine tastes clean and fresh. The winery recommends pairing it with aged cheeses. I like it with spaghetti and meatballs. I used the wine in my sauce. — 10 months ago

Rabbit & Spaghetti

Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2018

One of the few times I gave a wine time to open up and decanted it. Very smooth and even my husband enjoyed a few sips (not a wine drinker). I have a few bottles of 2019 and am wondering how they will compare — 4 years ago

Ridge Vineyards

Benito Dusi Ranch Paso Robles Zinfandel 2015

2015. Big “port-like” dark fruits. Went great with a meaty spaghetti dinner on a seasonable first day of spring in the Alaskan interior! Corked up the remaining half a bottle and was worried it might get even more porty the next day, but it was exactly the opposite as it gained some balance and more complex finish. Rating slightly higher for second day. — 10 months ago
