Monte Xanic

Valle de Guadalupe Chenin Colombard 2022

Had the 2022 in January of 2024 with chicken tinga. What a nice little wine. Minerality and a touch of citrus with some floral on the nose. Hints of lime on the tongue and a hint of hibiscus on the nose. This was a lot like a New Zealand sauv blanc but with a softer punch. Enjoyed this and wondering about going through the hassle of obtaining this one again. Definitely would if it was easier to get. — 10 months ago

Block Selection Reserve Limarí Valley Pinot Noir 2014

Damp tobacco mixed with fresh sugar cane on the nose. Almost a sweet initial taste with high acid and an undefinable (at least to me) spice coming through the middle. Once the acidic flavors die down, the sweetness trickles back into the palate making a balanced finish. — 7 years ago

Domaine de la Pépière

Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine Melon de Bourgogne 2014

Lean, savory and good minerality. Good with light seafood and held its own against chicken tinga — 9 years ago

Castellucci Miano

Sicilia Nero d'Avola 2019

Dark opaque ruby color. I get ashes and tobacco smoke on the nose. Rich black cherry gives way to bay leaf then ashes on the palate. I drank it with pork Tinga tacos and it worked. — 3 years ago

Big and ripe for a Swan, but has some balancing pomegranate and cranberry tartness that lifts it up a little. Better with pork tinga that muted a bit of the heat. — 8 years ago

Boom Boom! Washington State Syrah 2013

Not so fruity, light, on the drier side. Very drinkable. Would buy again to drink while cooking. Drank while making Pati Jinich’s chicken tinga with Sami in a severe heat wave/drought and record dangerous levels of AQI due to Canadian wild fires. — 3 years ago

Marqués de Cáceres

Rueda Verdejo 2016

Citrus-y and bright and the slightest honey scent. Tastes of grapefruit, lime. Lots of slate and wet minerals. Sharp and crisp, with a bitter, grassy finish. Paired well with a spicy chicken tinga. — 6 years ago
