Expected this to be past its prime but it’s beautiful. Aromas: floral, spice, sandlewood, cherry tobacco. Fresh black plum on the palate. Good acidity and structure. Wish I had more to share with friends. — 6 years ago

Combine fruit from 80 year old Tempranillo vines from the northern reaches of Rioja with one of the region’s best winemakers, and what do you get? Answer: a great traditional wine. Torre de Ona is a project of producer Rioja Alta using their northern-most vineyards. Raspberries, cranberries, red fruit, vanilla, coconut dominate the palate with a long layered finish. The long oak aging delivers silky, mature tannins that pull the wine together beautifully. The wine is less ripe with stronger acidity than other Riojas which delivers a unique and delightful character. Very well-made. 2014 vintage on Jun 16, 2019 — 6 years ago
Dry salty white. Portuguese whites are waaaay under appreciated — 8 years ago
2012. We were pleasantly surprised how much we enjoyed this 10 year old, $10 dark red blend (maybe because our cellar is woefully under represented in dry Portuguese wines). Equal parts Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Tinto Roriz; and Castelão. The fruit was deep but not jammy, smooth tannins, and a little acidity and brett to lift up the finish. — 4 years ago
