One of the absolute best Monastrell I’ve had from Spain. I specifically told the wine store guy I didn’t line most of these from Spain because they are too fruit driven & flabby. He said this was old school and very reminiscent of southern France. He was spot on: this had that feral quality, meaty, iron, black olives, smoky, just transported me back to the affordable days of Minervois & Bandol. Balanced beautiful generous - kept opening more & more over a couple of hours. A real treat! — 2 years ago
Red berry and maybe some pepper. More intense on the nose than in the mouth. Dry and a little hot — 3 years ago
This was my second Pinot Noir from Jack Winery in Napa Valley. Their winery and tasting room is towards the top of Altas Peak. However, they are getting their Pinot grapes somewhere in Sonoma, I believe, closer to the ocean. The 2019 blew my top. The 2021 brought me back down to earth with a smack. Nothing special and certainly not for the price. Not sure if they received the grapes from a different vineyard or if there were striking difference between the two years. The 21 version had little character. Just light to medium bodied red fruit with little else going on. — a year ago

Dark, sweet (molasses?) with an acidic/citrusy finish. The flavor changed significantly the longer it was open. — 7 months ago
