@delectable this is the Centgrafenberg “J” - what a nose. Complex secondary aromas of earth, leather, smoke and game. Under that is ripe mid season cherries. Palate is ripe and super refined wirh lovely purity and freshness and suave ripe tannins. In a great place of total harmony. Will improve wirh air i‘m sure but this is one of the few Walter Pinots that is almost mature or starting to. — 6 years ago

Nose of smoke, mesquite, sweet raspberry fruit, violets and other flowers. Unreal.
Palate is soft and sweet and spreads to every nook and cranny. Unreal purity, length and delicacy. — 7 years ago

Very exiting nose. Confectionery sugars, greens that are sweet, fiddlehead ferns, sugar snap peas, mineral and airy. Even a hint of saline. Palate is elegant, linear and focused. Juicy and clean. A bit simple. Nice but the J bottling of this is really a big step up. Nice length. Good. — 5 years ago

Last bottle from my trip to the Mosel a couple of years back. This wine from a bend in the river near Neef, fragrant with the smell of fruit tree flowers and tastes of apricot and grapefruit, delightful. Tempted to go back to buy some more. — 9 years ago

Have not had in 3.5 years and wow this is drinking so well. A superstar. Nose is all wet earth, decay, sweet spices and macerated cherries. Palate is a wonder of juicy cherry fruit, freshness and layered complexity. Dead leaves, buoyant acidity and a long, lingering finish. Needs some time to open but man is this great out of the bottle. As this airs the palate complexity is so compelling. The tannins are so oh so fine. This after many hours was so elegant and fine. Meaty and pure. This is drinking perfectly now after an hour open. — 4 months ago

Anthony took us to the tasting room in their Cellar to taste the Hamilton Russell line of wines.
This is why you come down to this region, the Pinot Noirs. They are Burgundian in style. Nice red and blue fruits with very gentle wood use and about 13% ABV. Quite enjoyable.

Nose is a spice bomb. Dried, desiccated leaves. Some mid season cherry, wet earth and everything about the nose says aged but with some youthful vigor. Palate is lush and rich, really good, with great concentration and freshness. Nimble and with wonderful acidity and such purity. Velvety sweet tannins and so focused. This is drinking so well. Terrific sweetness and love the classical structure. Long finish and still got some fuel to burn. Even better in 5-8 years. With air this gets so juicy and the energy really shines through. Wow the elegance shines through after 2 hours. 9.5 now. — a day ago
