Lovely bottle of the ‘87 opened May 2019. I don’t have much experience with older vintages but seemed to have aged well although maybe a bit past it’s prime. Smooth and balanced with good depth of flavor. Perfect for a rich beef dinner with smashed Yukon golds and gravy. — 6 years ago
Bold aroma, silky feel, deep rich flavor. So good and never took the back seat with dinner of moose steak, King Boletes, roast Yukon gold and magic molly potatoes, cherry tomatoes, and radishes....all from our garden, tundra, and woods. — 8 years ago
Full bodied, sweet ripe berries and very little tannins. Paired well with a BBQ’d NY steak and Yukon gold potatoes.
I wished I had the forethought to purchase a case of this wine, but no regrets…this one was definitely worth the wait and exceeded my expectations. — 2 years ago
Vibrant, limpid, ruby. Initial nose of cranberry, bitter raspberry pip, irony mineral tones, tea roses. With air gains a pomegranate and slight beety note as well as some petrichor. Energetic palate with lively acidity. A good foil to salmon cakes with homemade tarragon mayo and Yukon golds persillade. — 4 years ago
Love this Rostaing Syrah created from 12 or 13 different vineyards. The style encompasses everything thing I love about Northern Rhône. At $50-$55, their 2010 vintage of Ampodium pushes quality close to their much more expensive single vineyard bottling for a 1/3 of the price.
It’s round and elegant. Lightly roasted, creamy dark fruits, used expresso grounds, savory meats, just a touch of bacon fat, soft, understated minerals, dry top soil with dark withering & fresh dark florals. The round and beautiful. The finish glides over the palate with persistence and puts a smile on your face. It was a magnificat pair with my Short Ribs and Yukon Gold Horseradish Potato Purée.

David T below hits many nails on the head, though Anthony Galloni only gave this wine and 87 while on staff at the wine Advocate and said it would likely be dead by 2016 . . I guess that’s the reason I’m not subscribing to his publication —he’s way off IMHO . . in any case lovely wine lots of staying power, rich ripe dark fruits, firm acidity —not quite as firm as the 2019 Anthill Farms Harmony Lane also from Sonoma Coast but that is only a few months and bottle so we will see how they match up along the way . . tonight paired with a near perfectly seared duck breast and some Yukon Gold smashed potatoes crisped in the rendered duck fat . . pretty good meal for a Tuesday night😁 — 3 years ago
Red fruit-forward, herbal, tannic. Similar in profile to a Chianti Classico, but a little sweeter. With soy-scallion burgers, Sriracha mayo and roasted Yukon gold potatoes in soy sauce and butter. — 5 years ago
This wine is from Oklahoma.... Yukon, Oklahoma....thanks Drew for expanding my view of the wines of this world...as in the Big 12 wine states — 7 years ago
