Crisp, tight dark red fruit that initially hid the earthy, forest floor flavors. It ultimately all integrated nicely in about an hour. Always an interesting ride with a Barolo. This one was 12 years old so we thought we didn’t need to decant….had to be patient instead. — 2 months ago
A 20 year old Syrah from Idaho! Yes Idaho and scoring it a conservative 9.5! Amazing. Still super vibrant, deep dark cherry infused with mulberry spice and lifted with floral notes of violet, sage and jasmine. Incredible. From Hells Canyon, oldest winery in Idaho established in early 1980’s on the banks of the mighty Snake River. — 2 months ago
Super intense wine. A bit off balance with bitter cherry notes overshadowing other fruit notes, mineral richness and subtle tannins that were hiding underneath it. — a month ago
Our trusty Amarone from Guiseppe Campagnola. This one was 10 years old. Burst of flavors. Lacking some of the intense spice and tannin structure. — a month ago
Amazing wine. Couldn’t stop drinking it! Layers upon layers of dark earthy fruit with a light uplifting elegance seldom experienced. And all that with an evolving complexity that remains in perfect harmony. A total surprise. Didn’t know we had this in our cellar 😅 — 2 months ago
This nine year old right-bank Bordeaux started out strong with nice aged dark red fruit flavors, smooth light tannins and a crisp finish. But with time it started to crack at the seems and slowly fall apart in a rumble of green herbal/bell pepper flavors overriding the disappearing fruit. — 2 months ago
Highlight of the night! And a surprise to some degree. I kind off had given up on Lynch Bages. Given the high price, to me, the 2015 and 2016 were below expectation. But, boy, this 2018 rung all bells. Super concentrated, layers of evolving dark cherry, blueberry, current flavors and a superb balanced finish. All one could wish for. — a month ago
Intense Pinot from Central Otago. Heavy ‘burned earth’ notes characterizing the wine. We carried this bottle back with us in 2018 visiting the region. Great pairing with pita chips and blue cheese. — a month ago
Incredible wine from the slopes of Mnt Edna where they discovered an old abandoned vineyard from pre-phylloxera times planted back in the late eighteen hundreds. Mostly from the Nerrello Mascalese grape. The wines is super focussed and bright, zooming into elegant layers of vibrant red and dark fruits all supported by subtle fine grained tannins and mineral undernotes. Classic old world style wine with endless depth and nuanced complexity. Just a complete, perfect wine …. For me 😁 — 2 months ago

Hmm. Tried hard but just couldn’t get in sync with this wine. In other words, I didn’t like it 😅. I wanted to explore a Chardonnay from this region as compared to the other Burgundy regions to the north or Chablis but it didn’t get close. Not as vibrant. Off balance with a weird green note reminding me of a Viognier and limited finish. Yeah, not for me. At least not this bottle. But probably should judge the region by one bottle 😎. — a month ago
