Besides the waiter party foul of knocking a bottle over, this wine was solid.
Well liked by all. Very good structure and backbone to the wine.
Fruit was fairly dark and blackberry in nature. Nothing wild from a red or blue fruit perspective but good black fruit.
I find the quilt reserve to be a good find though a rare wine. — 13 days ago
Delicious Zin.
Good fruit pop and a solid backbone and structure to the wine. Wife said “this is a Zin?!?!?”
Paired well with miso veggie chicken — 22 days ago
I thought this was solid and paired well with the moussaka for dinner
Really good acidity. Some raspberry flavor and earthy notes. Responded well to salt.

Juicy and pleasant. Good wine.
Nothing jumped out at me but seemed to have decent enough structure for steak night — 15 days ago
This wine had excellent dark fruit and tannins that maintain some grip and structure. You can tell this is mountain fruit.
Drank over 3 nights with argon preservation in the fridge.
Paired very well with manchego and also with chili.

Excellent wine.
Some explosive fruit but also a lot of structure and depth.
Seems like it has more to develop even further. — 25 days ago
Corked broke. Again. Constant issue with older Nickel wines and particularly this one
Thankfully wine was solid. Starts off quite juicy and plush.
With a little time and the right food pairing, it provides a little more grip and flavor.
For me - this took some caviar and salt to really get it going and then it was at another level. Rating is with caviar. Definitely 2-3 pts less without it. — 10 days ago
Thank goodness. No pre-ox on this wine. Have been burned by a lot of Williams selyem chards
But this wine had the dark golden hue yet no pre ox. Very fresh and gorgeous
Like the best WS chards - this tastes nothing like typical California Chardonnay and is more like a chateaunuef de pape Blanc
Fantastic melon and stone fruit flavors.
Minimal oak and a good acidity that gives you a bit of heat / alcohol but not too much.
Really enjoyed this wine with salmon and caviar. — 18 days ago
High expectations for this wine. Great vintage and great producer
Starts out dark and closed. Appears to need a lot of airtime. Into the decanter
2 hours later it’s paired with short ribs and the fattiness seems to bring out some better flavor and the dark flavors really complement the meat.
Post dinner this wine is beginning to show something but it’s still dark brooding and too tight.
I’m going to let the other bottles sit for a few years. I’ve found the more recent coombsville wines from 2019 and forward to me a lot more open and fruity. — 23 days ago
