Loving this Bandol from Domaine Tempier (2019) ABV 14.5%. It’s impeccably balanced with well-integrated, fine-grained tannins.
Aromas and flavors are deeply concentrated offering notes of black cherry, black currant, ripe blackberry, plum, violet, dried lavender and sage, star anise, meaty, toasty, peat moss, and wet earth notes.
It is delicious now and has the bones for further aging.
This wine has both a savory, sauvage quality as well as an elegance and delicacy to it. Like beauty and the beast in a glass! — 2 years ago
Delicious. Medium bodied. Roses, tar, dried red fruits, berries, spicecake. Lovely tannin.
“Albe” means “dawns” in Italian as this wine is sourced from three high-elevation sites that experience several dawns. A killer value from this producer. Drink or hold. — 2 years ago
A staple and for all the right reasons. Ripe is the word of the day here. Ripe cherries on the nose along with vanilla and toasted wood. There’s a bit of mushroom and grass going on here that’s really nice. Some smoked tobacco and tea leaves definitely enhance things.
Singular and perfected, this is a must buy all the time. You know exactly what you’re in for and you love it. Nice weight and complexity without too much fuss. Full bodied without being dense and plodding. The red and black fruits shine on the palate along with leather and oak. Always so delightful.

Note to self, drink more Austrian wine in 2023. A nose that kept luring me in with a hook made of citrus and honey, haunting. In the mouth, acid and minerals declared eminent domain until it released flavors of pears, salt, watermelon and orange.
