1964. Purchased from my friend Walker at Walker Wines, who got it from a cellar in Italy. Translucent brick color, herbal and rose on nose, strawberry jam, red fruit, tertiary flavors on palate, endless finish. Delicate and elegant. Decanted 1-2 hours. — 5 years ago

Starts out with zingy sunshine over flower bed earth. After a few hours this comes together beautifully. Lavender, hazelnuts, potting soil, smell of a spring garden... and all sorts of other good stuff you would expect if Provence were jammed in a bottle! — 5 years ago
Yep you saw that price tag correctly 😱!! My favorite wine stop in Iowa City decided these were not moving! So I ever so graciously took the last three off of his hands!
@David T I was slightly concerned...no temp/climate control..just sitting on the shelf (thoughts?). Chance it I did and nothing off with this Tempier!
Delicious as always previous notes apply!
Lucky I am! 👍😁🤷♂️ — 5 years ago
Good amount of sediment. Still a deep concentration with some slight bricking on the rim. Nose shows red and black fruit and some woody, stemmy notes. Not an egregious amount of musk, but not exactly fresh either. Palate showing tart red fruit: focused, ethereal. Heavy purple flowers: lilac. Light in weight, heavy in perfume — 5 years ago
Open that bottle night! We’ve had this kicking around the cellar for nearly a decade and it was time. I’ve drank many Sauternes but have dreamed of tasting Yquem since devouring Richard Olney’s monograph (and Jeremiah Tower’s descriptions of Yquem bacchanals) as a boy—yeah I was a maybe a bit precocious.
Nose of muscat grapes. A brilliant medium amber, luscious mouthfeel. Mature. Honey, almond essence, crème brûlée, coconut, candied pear. The richness sets Yquem apart. What a treat. Happy birthday @Alsu Shakirova 🥰🥂🎂 — 5 years ago

So consistent and one of our go-to champagnes when we want to celebrate a little. The acidity matches up well with pizza cheese. Mmmmmmm! — 5 years ago
