Les Rascasses Santa Ynez Valley Rosé Blend 2017

After having this a few times in the past month, I can confidently say this is my current favorite domestic Rosé. The price is right and it delivers a lot of pleasure each time. It can also age. This is the 2017 in magnum and it was singing after being open about an hour. — 3 years ago

Cristal Brut Champagne Chardonnay Pinot Noir Blend 2007

9.5

I still remember the first time I drank a Cristal, when a friend popped open a bottle (that he bought duty-free on a trans-Atlantic flight) at his SoHo apartment some 20+ years ago. Wasn’t much of a wine drinker then, but how wine could taste this good?!

Though from a lesser grand vintage, the 07’ did not disappoint. The purity of the fruits and chalky minerality are second to none. Crystal clear acidity provide great tension throughout. Graceful textured full body.

LPV Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

9.6

Disgracefully strong showing. Big and bold. Major explosion of fruit on the nose, and mid-palate. Soft brown sugar melds with broad-shouldered tannins. A knee-trembler for sure… — 3 years ago

@David L @Bill Bender @Eric @Scott Soren It’s a classic wine. Great time while with friends. But I now need to rob a bank! 😁

Yatir

White Mt. Amasa Viognier Blend 2018

Wow. A favorite white wine here. 52% Chenin Blanc 39% Viognier 9% Roussanne. So very delicious. Crisp, tart, floral, just the right balance. Very complex and interesting. YUM!! — 3 years ago

Quilt Wines

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Over-oaked. I have experienced this with prior vintages of Quilt, so if you enjoy new wood dominant fruit forward Napa cabs, then this will be up your alley. Ripe and juicy. Nice medium plus body with high alc. A big wine. Screw cap closure so drink up sooner rather than later.

@M. Christopher Roebuck unfortunately wasn’t a fan of this wine but maybe I should try it again.

Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin

Vintage Brut Champagne Blend 2012

#vintagechampagne - the hype on 2012 Champagne is totally justified. Beautiful rosé sparkly here from Veuve: strawberry, rose hips, red apple on the nose, luscious fruit in the mouth with neat tension. What an experience! — 3 years ago

Beaux Frères

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2017

Refined and bold and full of cherry and fruit right out of the bottle. Fabulous and big on the tongue. Lots of bold cherry and a bit of spice. Lovely linger on the tongue. Worked well with veg meal. — 3 years ago

Anakota

Helena Montana Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

My first experience here. Lovely wine. It took some time to open, but the wait was worth it. A muted nose gave way to some florals and the palate is drive by blackberry jam, then some briny olive and peppercorn Really cool. Medium acidity and dark purple hue. Not a long finish but we’ll rounded and time will be it’s friend 93pts now, and i would guess it could reach 94-96 in time — 3 years ago

Silver Oak

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

$80 for this compared to $125 for Napa is a good deal, even if it doesn’t age as long. You’ll get your reward more quickly. I’m getting lots of twigs and wet bramble, cassis and mint. Medium bodied raspberry and super delish. — 3 years ago
