WhiskeyFest SF 2022 - Hibiki Harmony tasting with its components at barrel strength. If you ever get a chance to listen to their ambassador and do a tasting - go. Lot of great information and story telling. Consistently one of the best AND you get to taste the components at cask proof which is impossible elsewhere. — 2 years ago
Figured “Immortal” fit for Halloween. 🎃 Inky, dark ruby in color with a layered nose of blackberry, plum, herbs, clay pot, and Asian five spice. On the palate it’s rich and decadent. Full-bodied with well integrated tannins. A little of this wine goes a long way. The finish lingers on and on. This is a BIG wine that does not hold back. It overdelivers at its price point. About the same price as Caymus, yet brings so much more to the table. — 2 years ago
This bottle was opened yesterday and 2/3rd of it was left to rest for a good 24 hours.
The nose shows a bright cherry note along with rose petals and peony touches. This is very floral. There is some hay too, and an earthy touch too. The palate is very well made with a great acid drive, some width and matter on the side, a vivid mouthfeel, some laser cherry notes whirwinding all around, some spice touches kick-start a tannins wall at the rear that disrupts the mouthfeel with very fine tannins before a long finish with cherry and, these fine tannins that linger for a long while. This is gamay at its best in a very concentrated, bourguignonesque style — 2 years ago
MJ’s cellar is awe-inspiring. Once again, an absolutely pristine old wine from his cold, cold cellar - a 1980’s Krug Grande Cuvée! A first for me and gosh it blew me away. Still so fresh and energetic, yet rich and concentrated, all intensified by time. Complex aromas of orange peel, dried apricot, dehydrated apples, lemon oil, marzipan, and a touch of sherry. Full-bodied, textured, and deep on the palate, with mellow honeyed notes mind-bogglingly juxtaposed against zesty citrus notes; some cream and sweet spices, high acidity, and heaps of salinity. Gosh was this good. — 2 years ago

My favorite muscadet from my favorite producer in the region. And that’s saying something — 2 years ago
