Anden Seven Springs Estate Pinot Noir 2017

Beautiful wine! I’ve had other vintages of this wine in the past. I tasted this 2017 out of 1.5L. Felt quite feminine in nature. Medium plus acidity and a long finish. Red fruited, and earthy. Dried cranberries, and tarragon. Seemed like a kaleidoscope of aromas and flavors. Very happy to have tried this! — 3 years ago

Sonoma-Hillsides Syrah 2019

It must be my lucky week, because I’ve had two spectacular California Syrahs back-to-back (and it’s often months between good showings). Of course, given the hoopla surrounding this wine, anything less would be a dissapointment. This was an equally good, but very different wine from the Presq’uile: where that wine was pretty, finessed, peppery and heavy on the savory, tapenade notes (California’s homage to the N Rhone), this wine has brawn and bravado (unapologetically new world, but in a good way): rich, ripe, concentrated dark fruit, meat on the smoker, cedar, charcoal, underbrush. The tannins are ripe, but substantial and drying on the finish, cutting it short. This will be a much better wine in 5+ years to give those little guys some time to chillax…

100% whole cluster. 0% new oak. 12.5% ABV (!)

Have you tried Jolie Laide Syrahs? In my mind, another wonderful Syrah from CA. Scott Schulz was and still may be an assistant wine maker at Pax.

@Joe Davant I’ve enjoyed all of the Jolie Laide wines that I’ve tried but have yet to try the Syrahs. Will add ‘em to the list!

Harvey & Harriet Paso Robles Red Blend 2018

Soft aroma is dark fruits. Initial taste of mild mild plums and mild mild raspberries. Tannins on the sides of the tongue in the middle. Then a long dry non tannin finish. — 3 years ago

Domaine Tempier

Bandol Rosé Blend 2020

Best tempier rose I’ve had in a while. Intense savory watermelon mineral salinity acidity and structure. Fantastic. — 3 years ago

Les Gruenchers Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2017

One of my favorite Chambolle producer. So much floral and perfumed nose, with solid structure and fine tannin. Suggest drinking it very slow without decanting — 3 years ago

Agreed! Quite low profile and the price stays reasonable

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2008

Super smooth after 2 hours decanting. This taste never gets old. And this bottle could age some more but doesn’t have to. — 3 years ago

Château Poujeaux

Moulis en Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

2019 vintage. A strong effort for this estate, bought in 2008 by the Cuvelier family (Clos Fourtet, Grandes Murailles, Côte Baleau). Much more intensity and complexity compared to the 2015 tasted alongside (but maybe I should try another bottle of the 2015). Cassis, flowers and lead pencil. Medium-bodied, juicy and fresh with very good mineral length. — 3 years ago

Really great. Will be amazing with age but drinks well after sitting and with the aerator. Full big wine and excellent cab. — 3 years ago

Las Iruelas El Tiemblo Garnacha 2018

Wow….
A sommeliers tip @ Entrevins Valencia…
This is an extraordinary, elegant and filigreed Garnacha, almost Rayas-Like in Its personality and flair…
Very feminine, perfumed, tiny red forestfruit, high-toned notes of fresh flowers like rose-petals, jasmin, verbena, amused, lots of detail and persistence. Indeed, there’s great aromatic precision and a remarkable texture that is impressive for its depth of flavors and finesse. Not your average sweet Grenache fruit-bomb. No…, this truly is something special for the happy few to cherish and savour. So sassy and classy…
