A very warm year this and there may be a little Cabernet in the blend all farmed under 1300 foot level so all sedimentary deposits a bit of clay and sand this wine had a good amount of red plum and cherry fruit notes of milk chocolate a note of fresh loamy earth with notes of baking spice 5000 cases total production CS ch and merlot is only 500 cases. A big but elegant style of merlot wonderful freshness even in this warm year. A very elegant style of merlot. John abbot is the winemaker came from chalone group to open canoe ridge
