SP68 Terre Siciliane Nero d'Avola Frappato
Medium minus concentration of pale ruby in color and the lifted aromatics on the nose. Reminds me of whole cluster: rose, crunchy cranberry, kinda banana-y, pomegranate. Juicy cherry, red plum, black pepper, smoke, and a slight hint of 🌿 herbs. Elevated acidity, medium grippy tannins, and medium body with a moderate finish.

Oct 25th, 20202019. Rosso Terre Siciliane, 12.5% abv. Lighter body, fresh cherry berry flavors. No funk. Acidity and some tannins paired great with all-day simmered red sauce and sausages.

1 person found it helpfulSep 28th, 2020A wine that we struggled with for the whole evening. Unexpected funkiness for such 'age'. But after decanting and finding the right temperature, it became enjoyable. And no rotten notes and fizziness. Instead, the nose is full of cherry, red apple, pomegranate, raspberry, spices, clay and blood. Medium body, intense and well balanced. Wine with character. In a good sense.

Jul 26th, 2022My favorite light red I’ve tried so far! The waiter said it would work well through the entire tasting menu because of its low alcohol content. The Frappato added lightness to the wine. I thought there was a good balance of funk, interest and smoothness in there.

Apr 27th, 2021Better than I recalled - lovely deep dark Sicilian Nero d’avola — when you don’t want to go full cab crab some of this inky juice named after the highway running through their region instead. Support a killer female winemaker at the same time.

Feb 6th, 2021Frappato shines through. Fresh, crunchy, excellent minerality.

Feb 6th, 2021I like it. But not sure it’s a good good food wine. Light, low al, berries and stone fruit, high acidity but low tannins. Not a great nose. Try again but prob just one bottle.
