From the #mysterycase. First sip is dry and musty lol. Further sips reveal oranges and anise, like a pizzelle. Not bad 😄 — 6 years ago
Have to admit I like her frappato blends a bit better. This Nero d’Avola is light and elegant to start but then finishes a bit brooding and heavy - like a dancer jumping into the air and then stomping back down to earth. @ Chambers — 18 days ago

Merlot is a thin-skinned grape and typically tends to ripen faster than Cabernet Sauvignon.
Bold but smooth and dry
« Merlot is a staple of the wine producing regions of South America. Alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère, the bold, spicy grape contributes to Chile's reputation for creating great, affordable wine.
Chilean Merlot tends to be full-bodied yet gentle, relatively low in alcohol yet with a bracing acidity, and it often has a divisive “green” characteristic to it.
Chilean Merlot can stand up to strong flavors fairly well, so pair with a big red-sauce Italian meal, some meatballs, a bit of roasted turkey or even a good pizza. » — 3 years ago
Seafood/salmon friendly. A bit more sweet that I’d like but still very good. A compromise to the Occhipinti that we can’t find anywhere. — 4 years ago

After tasting next to other organic/low intervention wines, the structure and finesse of this wine becomes more evident. Smooth red and dark fruit on the palate with good but no overwhelming acidity. Drinks like a wine from a colder climate. — 5 months ago
The 2022 Sottobanco, a varietal Procanico, displays dried flower, crushed rocks, underbrush and apricot aromas. Textural and weighty, it’s lifted by zesty acidity and mineral tones. An ambrosia-like wave of nectarine and ripe melon follows. The 2022 finishes spicy and with candied ginger hints. $24.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, July 2023) — 3 years ago
