Young and interesting. Tasted quite a bit of wood but claims minimal use. At $30, likely some better options out there

Wonderful Saint Joseph from a rising star vigneron in the Northern Rhône. Lovely cool black fruit and mineral intensity. Fresh ripe blackberry, crushed granite, lavender and violet floral tones, and herbed green olive dominate, underscored by more subdued notes of bacon fat, cracked black pepper, and anise. Great complexity and concentration without being overextracted. Medium (+) fine tannin, medium (+) acid, medium body with great texture. This is textbook northern Rhône; utterly delicious.

Hmmmm, interesting. Not the love at first bite I would have expected given the preamble. Having said that, the subtle flavour is not unattractive. Rather, it's like Social Studies...you need it, but will likely not appreciate it for years to come.
