Azelia
Bricco Fiasco Barolo Nebbiolo
Just hitting the decanter now, nose is voluptuous raisin, yum. Color medium red-brown.
To be paired with a beautiful bolognese sauce which has been slowly cooking for a couple hours... Both should be ready at about the same time in a few more hours.
Nose: Raisin-Cherry and ripe cherry notes, wet autumn earth.
Palate: Light oak touch intially, then dehydrated strawberry evolving to light, dried cherry, light mineral quality.
Substantiality better than our prior bottle 11 months ago, but still too young. Remaining bottles should be tucked away for 10+ years. I can only imagine the evolution between now and then...

Brickish ruby. After 3 hrs of air, nose of flower petals, tea, red berry fruit, and a little menthol. Round and rich with some mocha in the mouth. Young but delivers nicely right now.

Mar 20th, 2016Still a baby but enough age to show some nice Nebbiolo traits. Silky in the mouth. Needs food with it.

Sep 2nd, 20152000 Azelia Bricco Fiasco double decanted. Rich color of leather. Brief introductory taste confirms it is alive and well, and a charming wine of sleeker tannins than expected. Good fruit still thriving, dark cherry, with tertiary hints of earth and a hint of bacon.

May 9th, 2020I never quite know what I am going to get with barolos from this vintage. This one was good tonight, but it just never quite came together. Drank over 4 hours, lots of eucalyptus at the start. That integrated better with a few hours in the decanter and the sour cherry and cocoa started to be more prominent. I have one more bottle and don't think I will hold on to it too long. I don't think there is much more development here. A good wine overall, but disjointed.
