Powerful nose of leather, rose, violet, blackberry, black cherry carrying through to a similar palate with notes of graphite and mushroom. Still a ways to go with plenty of fruit concentration and grippy tannin. Better with food but a delight as always

As we are hunkering down here in the US and around the world, Italy was on our mind. We should have learned from China and how they kept the virus contained to mostly Hubei province. But Italy brought it home to all of us. Our hearts go out to the people there. New cases are rampant and deaths are going through the roof. A toast to the brave first line defenders, the nurses, the doctors who are putting their well being...there life, on the line, every day beyond exhaustion. The wine was crisp and balanced. Dark earthy fruit upfront and vivid tannins creating a lingering kick at the end.
