Azienda Agricola Valentini
Trebbiano d'Abruzzo
Surprising. Almost fizzy- secondary fermentation? Quite funky- Brett? Very vital and alive with a lees-y quality. Bright and precise.

May 26th, 2023A surprise! From the 2010 vintage, this had the weight of white burg and density. Acidity of Trebbiano. I was shocked at how good this was.

Aug 11th, 2019Firm reduction which doesn’t blow off in a decanter, plenty of saline, briny, cool minerality, savory fruits, citrus and olives. Lots of texture and weight but also very light. Another wonderful expression of what “natural” wine is capable of being.

Jul 18th, 2019The slightest bit of reduction that quickly blew off to reveal a beautiful nose of florals, peach and honey. On the palate it makes its presence known but tiptoeing not stomping. Wonderful concentration that reveals layers of fruit and herbs. At this stage I would call it a precocious child.

Apr 29th, 2019A very fine petillance giving a somewhat cloudy appearance. Quite youthful for a 7 year old white. Nutty and Lemon aromas and flavours with a cleansing acidity which will carry it forward. A favourite of Michaela our sommelier. I now have a new found admiration for Trebbiano, a variety used in Australia in the past to make bulk uninteresting Wine. This is refined and complex continuing to show different nuances with air. One of the 1001 Wines and one can see why.

Oct 9th, 2017White peaches, yellow plums, oxidative style. Like an aged Burgundy. Huge minerality. Decanted over 2 hours. Stunning.
