Bonny Doon Vineyard
Vin Gris De Cigare Grenache Rosé Blend
Pre-Covid vintage; what have these grapes of wrath provided unto us mere mortals? Pink and gold, excellent clarity. Strawberries in nose and mouth, hints of peach, apple, pear and lemon flavor, mineral finish. Acidity is fine; this ain’t watery to my palate, just “lightly flavored”. If you want a fruit-forward red fruit dominant Rosé, this is not your wine. Its charm is it’s different. Good for sipping, but not a great food wine, I’d think

Sep 12th, 2021Whole clustered heartily agree with @Sharon B - totally watered down. No body. Just strawberry essence adrift in a sea of alcohol.

Jul 6th, 2021Not a fan, not much flavor at all, seems watered down.

May 15th, 2021This pink wine’s nose is dominated by strawberry, melon and tropical notes. Graham says a suggestion of cassis and grapefruit is possibly a function of the cooler 2019 vintage. On the palate, the wine has heft, a discernible weight I don’t usually find in rosés. There is a creaminess, too, owing to the time it spent sitting on its expended yeast cells. The savory hallmarks of Graham’s wine’s shine through, but the fruit is the star. Despite the full mouthfeel, acidity is quite fine. The finish is lengthy and somewhat citrusy.

1 person found it helpfulApr 29th, 2020Fruity, but dry, with strong citrus notes and what I can only describe as a hint of cocoa. If you like chocolate orange this could be for you.

Oct 16th, 2022Primarily Grenache (79%) with small amounts of Six other grapes. Aromas and flavors of strawberry, peach, melon, tropical fruits and dusty earth. There is also a hint of brioche and a very creamy texture (lees contact?). Touch of pepper spice on the finish. Bright acidity. Refreshing.
