Toscana Super Tuscan Blend

A 7 grape blend: 42% Cab Franc, 25% Merlot, 15.5% Syrah, 6% Cab Sauv, 6% Petit Verdot, 4.5% Sangiovese & 1% Alicante. Deep Ruby with aromas of ripe dark fruits, cedar and spice. On the palate flavors of blueberry and blackberry with herb and woodsy notes. Fine soft tannins, long finish ending with fruit and mineral character. Very nice!

Tad corked. Big. Coffee grounds very ripe.

This dark wine has fruit aromas to match - blackberries, currant, black cherry - and I love the way those smells power past the oak effect. The oak has left its mark, with vanilla, cedar, tobacco and a hint of tar on the nose. The palate shows vibrant fruit and earthy notes, with a healthy dose of tannic strength and a racy acidity. I’m having it with chicken Dijonnaise, but thinking of a pork chop to pair with it.

2016 vintage. Chunky, ripe and missing out on the structural markers that would vault this into must buy territory. This was the vintage for it to show up and be accounted for. Oopsiedoodles. Still, pretty decent. 8.8.24.
