Cakebread Cellars
Napa Valley Chardonnay
30+ years ago, Jack Cakebread came to photograph Napa for a book & bought a vineyard, Cakebread Cellars was born. Cakebread wine offerings are among my Favs, Chard is no exception, consistent quality year/year. ‘17 has elegant nose, stone fruits, citrus, floral & honey scents. On palate complex flavors of apple, peach & lemon zest, balanced with good acidity & great mouthfeel. Lingering finish ending with wet stone and citrus character. Had this about 9 months ago, aging well.

Mar 28th, 2020Just tried new vintage! 30+ years ago, Jack Cakebread came to photograph Napa for a book & bought a vineyard, Cakebread Cellars was born. Can age a bit but I just cannot hold on to these bottles long enough!

Jun 25th, 2019Greenish goldish on the eye. On the nose it is sweet, honey like, with scents of orange blossom and stone fruits. On the pallet, it is heavy; starts off with a burst of freshness, followed by citrus acidity, and a sweet vanilla-like medium finish. Bold and intriguing with sweet intentions. After a several hours of airtime however, the sweet intentions are converted on to fresh lusty vives...

Jun 21st, 2019For some reason I had been craving this for weeks so today I had to satisfy my desires. Chalky, lots of minerality, and a slight synthetic nuance 🤔 Good nonetheless.
