Nose is so fresh. Hand crushed cherry juice. As it opens almost a bit meaty. Gets more dense. Intense spice. Blackberries. Some elegant library book. Totally different wine from 0-30 minutes. Quite fascinating. Actually amazing. A quirky but delicious wine. Sexy librarian.
Palate is similar. Fresh cherry juice. A hint of cherry licorice. Very mineral. Silky tanins.
As this opens intense cherry licorice. Better deliciousness. High level deliciousness. Almost sticks to the lips. Intense density. Darker fruits. Really clings to the lips and palate. Grabs the palate on the swallow.
Long finish.
This vintage is more a wine of hedonism than one of elegance (which is the house style) even though for a hedonistic wine it is quite elegant. As this opens it becomes very very intense. Spice. Concentrated fruit. Cinnamon. Clove.
Much more a more typical gattinara as opposed to a dorelli wine that was made in gattinara.
It’s great to see what a great winemaker like Dorelli does over vintages with different characters. The imprint of the elegant house style is always there but the vintage is there as well.
