Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Petit Verdot all co-fermented together. The wine has the signature Wagner style of well extracted fruit, vanilla oak flavors and a touch of residual sugar. Complex? No. But it was pretty damn good with barbecue.

This has a complex nose of sweet rose, lavender, violets and, macerated blackberries, and cherries with hints of caramel, vanilla creme brûlée. This is well balanced with a sweet tobacco finish with hints of vanilla extract and sweet oak. Excellent wine! I wish we sold more in our store.

I've passed on this Wagner offering too many times to count, but the $13.50 closeout finally sucked me in for a try. I've heard this marketed every way imaginable... "Baby Caymus" or "Caymus' Prisoner" and even a comparison to Venge's Scouts Honor (blasphemy!). It is a blend of 40% Petite Verdot, 30% Petite Sirah, 10% Zinfandel, 10% Syrah, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Charbono.
This first whiff evokes some serious eye-rolling and head shaking. Plum and cranberry come doused in vanillin, but lacking any hint at hedonism. Tired... AF. At times it comes off as that half-full can of A&W Cream Soda that you left in your center console just before your flight, and are only now discovering it a week later. Considering 70% of this is Petit Verdot and Petite Sirah, an apropos comparison would be to the Michael David Petite Petit, which also happens to be a much, much better wine.

Dark ruby in color.
Beautiful fruity nose of cherries, currants, figs, wild flowers, vanilla, cloves and black pepper.
Dry and yummy on the palate with blueberries, blackberries, black cherry, black currants, vanilla, licorice, wood and black pepper.
Medium bodied and smooth.
Long finish with peppercorn and round tannins.
Great blend. Very enjoyable.
The different varietals of grapes, were blended prior to fermentation to aid the wine to become full, rich and integrated.
14.6% alcohol by volume.
