Castello del Terriccio
Lupicaia Toscana Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot
Popped and poured. Consumed over 3 days. Beautiful aromas of cassis, tobacco and some damp earth. Deep garnet in the glass showing some extremely fine sediment; so fine you can't notice on the palate. Day 1, the fruit is showing quite fresh with tobacco and sous bois peeking through; everything seems to be very well balanced. Really, this is quite quaff-able at the moment but it was late so we pushed the cork back in the neck and left it for another day. Coming back to this on Day 3 and the Lupicaia is still delivering. Dark fruits are still fresh however, secondary notes of leather, espresso and cocoa have taken a more prominent role. Delicious and clearly has the legs to cellar for years to come. Would pair well with food but drank just fine on its own. Drink now or Hold.

Apr 27th, 2017Super smokey with dark fruit. Very terroir driven. Tannins have relaxed and it's drinking wonderfully.
