Complex wine. Candied cherry, dark plum, walnut shell, leather, butter, milk chocolate, licorice, cooked herbs, flintstones vitamins. Umami describes it best. Great for $36 at Costco. Will buy more ASAP.

Had this in the cellar! Situated in the province of Siena where Castiglion del Bosco encompasses approximately 4,450 acres of land, 125 of which are vineyards. Garnet with complex aromas of berries and spice. On the palate this classic Sangiovese shows cherry and ripe strawberry flavors with citrus notes, licorice and oak. Great balance and structure, soft chewy tannins on a lingering finish ending softly with some spice. Very Nice, drinking well.

From taste: vibrant orange, spruce needle, thyme, sour cherry liqueur and stony nose; can sense the structure beneath. Real fresh with a powerful acid spine, firm tannin, and sense of staying power. Good midpalate density, tart and savoury, thyme and orange peel finish, a little heat. Made in a midweight+ classic style. Keep for 8-10.

Good but not extraordinary Brunello , standard flavors but not remarkable. The tannins are just a touch strong in the finish but the start is already somewhat weak.

Probably opened this Brunello 2010 vintage late but after resting open for an hour in the bottle and into the glass for moments only, the wine softened to a velvety, exquisite smoothness on the palate with a perfect balance…just the right amount of tannins and acidity. Close to spectacular…elegantly drinkable, nothing quite comparable to the full-flavored yet medium bodied Brunello. Other reviewers have more impressionable palates but no single distinct flavor impressions for me other than the deep red berry. No nut nor earthiness yada yada (how does anyone taste a nut, tree bark or dirt in fine wine?). Etc. etc…simply a full flavor but not “big” for the sake of it. An exquisite wine…a rare accomplishment. Purchased in Cortona, Italy.

Some rose pedals on the nose. Good red cherry with some pleasant acidity. Tannins completely gone so drink up whatever is in the cellar.
