Apr 21st, 2019Bordeaux value at its finest for $23. Everything I would want in a well made Bordeaux is in this wine, ready to drink now or age a few years. Very much Saint-Estephe as well as you get more Cabernet notes of cassis and currants, with the classic Bordeaux nose giving shades of present but elegant and well integrated French oak toast and roasted coffee beans. Great acidity and well integrated tannin that are ripe and finely grained. Thank you #jancisrobinson for the introduction to #capberngasqueton during the 2009 futures campaign as I have been an admirer since.

I was fooled, like a fool, on the Grand Cru label, which doesn’t mean much for Saint Emilion. However, I found this wine to be excellent still, a good expression of a Bordeaux table wine, with a good merlot note that added a velvety element that made it seem almost right bank. A nice chocolate note on the finish.
