Tried several times, better but inconsistent quality. Ruby red with dark fruit aromas and slight spice. Blackberry and black cherry flavors with cacao and pepper spice. Medium body fine drying tannins, medium finish, lively acidity, ending with fruit and spice.

A Blend of 80% Merlot & 20% Cab Franc, from 65 hectares, of which 42 produce wine. Vineyards planted on upper part of the slopes and have excellent natural drainage & sun exposure. Aromas of black fruits and floral notes. On the palate blackberry and raspberry flavors, tending toward jammy, adding some toasty vanilla notes. Tight tannins lingering finish ending with cedar and fruit. Nice but needs time. Tasting Sample.

You MUST DECANT this Malbec, much as you would any other ‘better’ Malbec from Cahors. If you do decant it, say, for an hour or two prior to drinking, you are rewarded with a wine that is ‘creamy smooth’, well balanced, inky dark joy. If you don’t decant, don’t bother trying it. I spent quite some time in Cahors, and their (and some other local vintners) wines are exceptional… more complex than the Argentines, but without decanting, you will not experience the joy.

Oct 13th, 2022After visiting Cahors, I bought one of every different bottle I could find in VA. This is the closest, so far, to the EXCELLENT Malbecs I drank there. Yum! 2015 vintage.

Leather, a little pepper. Nice tannins. Paired well with lamb, but would work on the table with any red meat.
