Pessac-Léognan White Bordeaux Blend

Should've known. La Mission Haut Brion Blanc is the ultimate glazed ham wine. Fantastic combo. White Bordeaux is too under appreciated. And so versatile. The richness of the 09 vintage hasn't made this over the top. But just the right amount of decadence for a meal like this.

Excellent Semillon-heavy wine. Very youthful out of magnum.

This is the Blanc

Light nose but rich and waxy aromas, good acidity but perhaps a tad flabby. Cotton, pepper, light honey and green fruits.

Too young to enjoy. My fault for being tempted to open it early. Getting punched in the face with intensity, despite 3-4 hours of decanting. Give it another 10 years

Too young to truly enjoy. Drank over 5 hours including 2 hours of just decanting. Too young and intense to taste the depth of the wine until about hour 4

Magnum 2009 La Mission Haut-Brion. Very lean and structured. More austere than the 2015 Ornellaia white.

Delicious, sets the standard for an earthy , light spice Bordeaux
