Chateau Montelena
Napa Valley Chardonnay
An icon, and a superb accompaniment to Shrimp Creole. Chablis-like in style with Meyer lemon, tangerine oil, rocks, and a racy spine of acidity. #chrispine

Mar 31st, 2018Ok, so I thought the '11 was my favorite, but the '13 just knocked it off. Damn! The pure beauty of Chardonnay.

Apr 14th, 2017Lemon custard and crushed white rock on the nose. The palate adds tart pear along with the entire spectrum of citrus which rides a beam of acidity all the way through the long, chalk dusted finish. Blind, I would convince myself it's Chablis, and a good one. A classic.

Nov 13th, 2016Tasting notes from a Judgement of Paris anniversary event at Cadillac Wines tonight...
Tart, green apple, and great acidity. Very little butter, which was a refreshing take on a chard. Same recipe has been used to make this wine since the beginning. Great history.

A great wine in large format for Christmas dinner ✝️2013 remains my favorite of recent releases. Lush red fruit and marvelous tannins 🍷😎

Dec 26th, 2019I think I had huge expectations of this wine going in and was left disappointed. In no way is this a bad wine, I think I just put it up there on a pedestal given the winery and thought I would be blown away. There was nothing overly stunning or unique, but definitely a solid Chardonnay. We probably should have aged it longer, so that may have been on us.
