A very attractive nose that has a pretty perfume along with earth, damp tobacco leaf and an autumnal smokiness but still has plenty black, just ripe berry fruit. Palate has a light weight frame that carries through some dilute berry fruit, soft tannin with acid leading, drying redcurrant finish.

I have tried several examples of Prieure Lichine over the years. Some were great and others not so good. I was skeptical about 2004 and I shouldn’t have been. What a beautiful example of a mid life Bordeaux that is likely at or near it’s peak. Dry, earthy and tannic with a solid core of fruit. Well done. This can easily last another decade
