Rich palate with firm tannin shows oolong, strong graphite core, nutmeg, fine Connecticut tobacco, pepper, dill, and a touch of anise. Bold for its age, and vibrant. Fruits emerge on a long finish; dusty cherry and cocoa, dried black currant, powdered blackberry and cassis.

A little tight as it wasn’t decanted as long as it should have been due to eager drinkers. 2016, so, young and wound up. Nose of live cypress, fresh dug hole along a wood, pine one, cherrywood, pressed raspberry; barely broken. Raisin rolls, chanterelle, rose stem. Rocky, with a silken red liquid rose petal moment that turned chewy round tannin and lush burst of plum. A solid nod to graphite immersed in raspberry tartness, red currant and slightest cinnamon and slighter peppercorn. Green in spots but there architecturally.

1982 vintage. Cinnamon and baked cherry nose with specks of pepper; eucalyptus aura shimmering. Rye bread with plum reduction, dusty cedar, dehydrated blackberry, broiled blueberry, reflective graphite glimmers, toasted wheat, holly leaf. Baked bing and raspberry with dried plum skin; black currant reduction with all kinds of legs. Sage and dandelion leaf, dried black mushroom, bitter blueberry, graphite gravy, and a side of pomegranate. So fun to taste this legendary vintage. Seems to be in the perfect place now.
