Le Petit Haut Lafitte Red Bordeaux Blend

Estate dates back to Crusades & Scottish navigator, George Smith, owner in the 18th century. Followed by M. Duffour-Dubergier, Mayor of Bordeaux, then Louis Eschenauer, a famous wine shipper. In 1990, Daniel & Florence Cathiard now own estate. Blend of 60% Cab Sauv & 40% Merlot, dark berry aromas, herbs and earthy spice. Palate is complex with cherry & currant flavors, pepper, tobacco & cacao notes. Soft tannins, rich and full, lingering, earthy, mineral ending, needs a bit of time.

Cassis, black fruits, bitter chocolate, licorice. Was left waiting for something more after ten years. Will level up to the first growth next time.

Still has many years of cellaring ahead but delicious esp when decanted. Dark and rich.

Damn good. Can’t go wrong.

Structured, silky smooth with full flavor

Tasty. Not amazing but solid.

Herbs are present along with some earth and dark fruit. Coffee Really nice 2nd Bordeaux.

2015 vintage. Herbs, soy sauce, mocha, raw beef, dark cherry and blackberry in the nose. Light/Medium body with the wine exhibiting a little pinot/burg style with introductory leaner tannins and then fattens up with the plum/cherry/cassis trifecta. A Burgundy drinker’s Bordeaux that finishes earthy and herbal. Deliciously different.

Renowned red Bordeaux, good fluidity, balance and structure.
