Last ‘16. Founded in 1973 in the Sonoma Valley, Chateau St. Jean produces an extensive portfolio of Sonoma County wine, including the award winning Cinq Cépages, a Bordeaux style blend of “five varieties." From various vineyards on Sonoma, wine shows black fruit aromas and sweet spice. On the palate ripe fruit flavors of blackberry and cherry with cinnamon and cacao. Tannins are fine with balanced acidity on long finish.

Blend of 80% Cab Sauv, 11% Merlot, 6% Cab Franc, 2% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot, deep Ruby with aromas of ripe berry fruits, cigar box and pepper spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and black cherry with creamy cacao, tobacco and cinnamon. Well balanced, firm yet silky tannins, long finish ending with notes of cacao, tobacco, vanilla and cedar. Very nice, great now, will age well over next 10+!!

Blackberry jam and clove on the nose. Blackberry follows through upfront with a blueberry aftertaste. Light bodied with a limey acid and grapefruit tannins.

Treasury Wine Estates is having their Spring wine sale. $90 list, selling for $72. 95+ points. I bought this last year from the Treasury employee store and don’t think I paid that much. A bit disappointing last night. Used to like the wine better two decades ago when you could get it for less than $30. I won’t buy any more at the sale price.
