Oct 31st, 2018This CPE’s Signature bottling. My second to last bottle of CPE. I believe this 2014 the last vintage they produced. I gave it a high rating based on more of my experience with the winery than the wine. The wine was very light in color with no brickage. The nose and taste were very light as well but there was some light (Cranberry) fruit notes and some cedar as well. The taste was about the same and the finish was okay. Nothing wrong at all just very light and past its prime. Think I’ll be drinking that last bottle I have on NYE, no reason to keep it any longer.
On another note; I so much appreciate CPE getting some of these wines to me last century when it may have be illegal to do so but Paterson, NJ and other things took precedence over the law of the day.

This is Clos Pepe’s Dark Side bottling, which they only made a few times. What an excellent PN, loaded with dark cherries, other dark fruits and some cola. There was a little left in the decanter about an hour or so after dinner and the fruit was gone as well as the long sweet finish. I had opened and decanted it about an hour before dinner and maybe that was too much time but got through dinner fine.

Jan 6th, 2023Ruby colored liquid in my glass. Hints of cherry pie on the nose. Flavors of tart cherries, red plums and baking spices. Beautiful acidity. A very balanced wine. This is my last regular bottle of CP wine. I do have a VS Pinot which I will sit on for a while. Glad other wineries are making really good wines from the Clos Pepe vineyard.

Oct 21st, 2018Red fruit, olives and some earthiness on the nose. Tastes of bright fruit like tart cherries, boysenberry, and plums accented by a lingering hint of blackberries on the finish. Silky smooth and elegant. A beautiful Ste. Rita Hills Pinot Noir.
