Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend
The wine last night was the 2015 Clos René Pomerol Right Bank Bordeaux. A blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Malbec.
On the nose there is cherry, raspberry, black currant, violets, anise, faint hints of oak and earth.
On the palate there is bkack cherry, black raspberry, plum, blaxk currant, licorice, minerals and earth.
This is a full bodied wine with a silky smooth mouthfeel, medium to medium + acidity and medium to medium + fine tannins that moves into a long dark fruit earthy finish. As we move firmly into spring and into this coming weekend lets enjoy our lifes fortunate new beginnings. Let us keep or eyes, minds and hearts open to all lifes new rewards. Roasted beef tips in a heavy savory sauce, rotisserie chicken, butter green beans, and some yeaty rolls. Frankly this wine would’ve been excellent without them but with them it just shown brightly. Complement the food wonderfully and expressed great flavors of cherry, cocoa, restrained fruit, and just all sorts of wonderful floral aromatics. Never overwhelming, a complement to everything, and I wish I had more.

Jul 21st, 2022Ruby red right bank Pomerol. Big nose with black fruit, cedar and a bit of pencil shavings. Blackberry on the palate with cedar and a bit of spice on the finish. 80% merlot softens this up, but it still has a bit of bite. Second glass even better after an hour.

Apr 19th, 2022I really have a going to start loving left Bank Merlot heavy winds lately. This is no exception, oh wonderful smooth and silky wine with medium body farm and smooth pans, and wonderful flavors of black currant blackberry leather earth and a smoky roast meat flavor. Decanted for an hour and a beautiful open and finish with top mouth feel the entire way. Delicious.
