A magical moment with the 1971 Dom Pérignon. This wine was flown from Los Angeles, California to Paris, France by our good friend, Mozy Tehrani to celebrated the 40th birthday of my BevMo! colleague, Brett Wells. We had no idea about the wines that were served. They were presented blind and we had to guess. This wine was very pale, with an almost old rosê to it. Completely mature and complex, I guessed it be a Dom, but was way off on the vintage. We really enjoyed every drop of this beautiful and refined wine. Great nose and secondary notes of nuts and citrus. These older champagnes can be very nice. Great treat.

Marmalade colored and a touch cloudy. A slightly tangy nose with greasy notes, orange peel. A nice poised palate showing its age with spice. Interesting but I prefer a bit more sizzle
