Soft. Vintage apparent here, lacking some sinew and grit. Menthol, spice, dried mushroom, forest notes, dried beef, black cherry, bay and pepper. Deliciously savory.

17th Anniversary wine. The cork was a disaster but the wine is terrific.

Blind Rhône’s from Saturday. Very primary but shows its pedigree even now. Blackberry kirsch, roasted dark chocolate espresso, smooth lines and undeniable purity of fruit. Just not fully blossoming quite yet. The ‘06 I had in November was exceptional so perhaps 5 years is an appropriate hold suggestion.

It's early on this wine/producer. It's dark and brambly. Dark syrupy liqueur of blackberries/ blueberries/dark cherries, pepper, white pepper, black cherry anise, faint strawberries, underbrush, dark expresso roast, dry stones, dry earth, dry dark florals, herbs, high acidity and a round juicy to dry dark cassis finish.

Overly stemmy and vegetal with a plastic note. Smoky almost mezcal character.
