Refined Barolo! At 2008 I hope that's not an oxymoron! Dry and savoury but also silky. Preferred the Pio Cesare.

It followed a Poggio Antica Brunello from 2007 and showed beautifully. Was eclipsed by the Valdicava Brunello later in the night

Rusted rim. Dark core of red fruit, with clues to French barrique aging. Pine, rosemary, classic tar and cherry fruits. Creamy, rich and supple on the palate with strawberry rhubarb notes. Finishes dry and with excellent length. Drink with decant or hold.

Deep rubied red with a hesitant to open nose of red cherries and cranberries underlying lifted hints of evergreen, menthol, and flowers. Red fruit and black cherry vividly hit the palate, smoothly transitioning to firm, yet round tannins that last on a creamy, fruit forward finish. This less traditional style of Barolo still has many years ahead of it. Decanted for 8+ hours.
