Dominus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

Usually love Dominus but this was a little rich with iron and missing any real yumminess.

Still had it after 17 years !

1998 vintage. Brick color and quite a lot of gradation as you move from the core to the meniscus. The nose is raisinated and shows lots of dried, decaying red fruits, plums, blackberries and wet forest floor. Surely an interesting nose that the palate can't really back up. While the body is full the finish and acidity is thin. I actually did like the though and would love to try more vintages of this.

This 1998 cab is a classically structured red with luxurious aromas of herb, cedar and clove. After being decanted for an hour the palate tastes of rich fruit and dense oak with underlying freshness and longevity. The tannins are perfectly balanced to make this 25 year old Cabernet a winner!

Full body, even now.

1998 vintage. Lots of blue fruit still evident. Not a great vintage for Napa but you’d never know it by tasting this. Holding up rather nicely.

Let her breathe! Full body with strong tannins. More on the tart side with a lot of spice and bite.

My favorite full body, spices with good currant balance. Go for it.

Vegetal

Smooth and easy, lesser tannins. Fruity taste of dark berries.
