Côtes du Rhône Red Rhône Blend

2018 -Vintage agree with everything @Bob McDonald said about this wine it rarely disappoints for the price point and ages reasonably well - Syrah is evident but Mourvèdre is evident black fruit spice and stoneyness

The first of 12 and an annual purchase for me. Must be the best value red wine on the planet - $24 AUD per bottle. 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre. I don’t know what the annual production would be but it would have to be well over a million bottles. I love Phillipe Guigals philosophy in that he says the CDR is the most important wine they produce because it is the wine most people will first be introduced to the Estate. Fresh savoury red fruits with raspberry to the fore. Quaffable and smashable.

E Guigal produces fine Rhône wines. Deep Ruby with aromas of ripe dark berry fruit and spice. On the palate juicy jammy flavors of black plum and blackberry fruit, vanilla, earthy pepper and black olive notes, vivid acidity, good balance. Firm tannins, long finish ending with spicy fruit character. Drink now and over next 5 years. Good value.

Didn’t wow on the nose, but perfect rhone dark fruits and balance. This was a crowd pleaser, and great value. Would count on Guigal anytime.

Smooth, full bodied, flavors of blackberry and cherry

French red. Light, but not fruity. Phil and I both liked.

2018- sharp acidity, bright red fruits, cherry, and underripe raspberry

Raspberry notes . Pleasantly surprised. Great aromas and taste. Nice finish.

Hadde senket en 3L på hyttetur. Noe smak, litt tung, litt tørr og litt kjedelig.
