La Turque Côte-Rôtie Syrah
Not the strongest year, but it rendered this toned and perfumey La Turque, packed with an intensely savory/spicey side that was bright, racy, and showing well with the cooperage. Intact and alive. On the red fruit spectrum, loads of cracked pepper, curing salt, dried herbs, moss, dust, wilted flowers.

Jan 29th, 2022This was the mystery wine and I had a premonition that the Sommelier was going to pick Astralis, the rich Australian Shiraz from McLaren Vale because he had just got some into the Club. “Don’t second guess the Somm”. On 2nd thoughts the La Turque would not be as rich as the Astralis. This wine was latent and ungiving - very solid - leather, bacon and pepper.
