Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

2011 vintage. Ripe yet youthfully austere. Better in five years. Backward but holding a serious structure.

Very powerful nose, mixing Brett, some VA, with a strange note of banana. Quite horrid. Leathery brett dominates the palate as well.

A singular classy beauty, all about close to perfection - a very appealing wine with great freshness & concentration - done by one of the Abruzzo legend - thanks for this treat Emidio 😋

Probably rating this too low so we’ll see how it opens up with time. But this is just beautiful right now. Killer nose, rich, structured fruit. Fine tannin and great acid backbone. Killer.

Not what I had hoped. Perhaps it’s in a slump and other may express better next year? Decanted for about 4 hours.

Red berry fruits, crushed rocks, earth & tobacco. Still too young!

Bright red cherry fruit with mineral, earth, flowers & lavender spices.

Really enjoyed this although it could use another 5 yrs. Bright crunchy red cherry fruits, very floral, lavender, crushed rock with good purity & acid.

Excellent earthy charm. Great depth of fruit.
