Finca Sobreño
Crianza Tinto de Toro
This was my first taste of the 2011 vintage. From reviewing my tasting notes for past vintages, there does not seem to be a lot of vintage variation with this producer though this vintage is missing some black pepper notes. The nose and palate are of dark fruit, blackberries and cassis mainly. There are hints of spice and licorice on this very smooth wine. The finish is fairly long with well integrated tannins. A consistent pleaser.

Oct 1st, 2014Nose is an intriguing blend of black earth, black berries, black currants, black and white pepper, as well as dried leaves, leather and alcohol (a robust 14.5% for an old world). The palette is full bodied and rich, featuring silky, concentrated earth wrapped around subtle black fruit, currants and raisins - absent is the alcohol, which is nice. There's also a vanilla finish, accented with nutmeg (showing that 9 months of oak). There's a bit of bitterness at the very end, riding along with the tannins. All in all, a nice Crianza.

Jan 20th, 2017Charming little Toro. Red fruits (currants, cherries) and toasty oak. Acids are delicate but present. Very "safe."
