I’m not sure they didn’t accidentally fill this bottle with ruby port. Seriously. Light and cloyingly sweet. Lacks the development Expected from a vintage port of this caliber

Still tastes young at 31 yrs. I always like tawny better though.

Light color for a Fonseca, seems mature, alcohol is not very integrated, somewhat sweet, this is a good, but definitely not great, vintage Porto.

A rich, deeply flavored port. I thought there was a midpalate cardboardy note, but the pros present didn't think it was corked.

Medium sweet, balanced acidity. Long finish and full bodied. Red and black cherries with a touch of spice.

Sep 24th, 2015Solid '83, but either I didn't decant early enough (7 hours ago) or it's still too young and unbalanced, as the spirits really stand out. Fonseca is usually my favorite house, so in that context, a little disappointing.
