Dark, deeply black fruited, pleasantly bitter and mineral. The depth, freshness, and rocky core are my favorite parts of this wine. Steely tannins are raw, lively, and rustic in their appeal. Brett and VA in check, beautiful structural balance. Crushed black cherry, black plum, medicinal herb, crushed rock, clove, violet.

We opened a 2014 Paolo Bea “Santa Chiara” that was horribly corked and we were so gutted by the experience that we decided an immediate and measured response was necessary to make up fo the tragedy. So we opened a 2016 Granato. Aaaaaand, this was an absolute show-stopper for everyone who got to try it. Bright red fruit, minerals, and sex. Drink now with patience (last glass was best) or hold out for more.

2016. Elisabetta Foradori’s leading teroldego, a grape she has championed from obscurity. Heaven in the mountains. She isn’t called Queen of the Dolomites for nothing.

Unfolds. Purple tightness yields to fruit minerals and precise winemaking with the under-rumblings of Syrah and earth. I like their entry bottle now. I’d prob like this more in 2-5 years. But you know it’s amazing

Deep red color with aromas of dried cranberries, pomegranate, blackberry and raspberry. Black earthiness and anise, bright acidity and approachable tannins.

No doubt about the fruit thickness and purity but the wood suppresses the liveliness of the fruit.
